YouTube has a couple of advantages in that people can subscribe to your content if they like it and people may also stumble upon it if they search for related content. This is far less likely if you host the video on your own site.
Look into methods of paid advertising. These are the listings that are found at the top of each search result page. You are going to have to pay for these advertisements but you are going to get a great deal of traffic on your site because of them and it will be worth the investment.
